Legislation, planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation of urban public policy with a gender perspective in the framework of The Right to the City
The basic elements of city planning, design and monitoring, that is, appropriate regulatory frameworks at national, regional and local levels, sufficient levels of funding for the construction of public urban infrastructures and facilities, and adequate technical and institutional capacity for the implementation and follow up of planning and urban design regulations and projects, are key requirements for the success of the New Urban Agenda. In addition, gender expertise on planning, design, and monitoring, together with a balanced representation of women and men in technical teams and in political decision making structures, are needed if we want a New Urban Agenda that fully integrates gender into its objectives, programs, plans and projects in ways that take into account the needs of all citizens irrespective of gender.
