This training will enable participants to understand the history and overview of humanitarian relief, recovery and reconstruction of shelter and settlements (S&S;) after major disasters, with the emphasis on urban contexts. This training was developed by USAID/OFDA and InterAction with the partnership and contribution from several member organizations. It has been facilitated over 20 times in the US and other countries and over 4000 people have accessed it online.
The training will provide an opportunity both for local authorities, institutions, and CSOs to improve risk analysis and awareness and to build-back-better and safer, contributing to the overall vision and implementation of the NEW URBAN AGENDA.
Specifically,
• STRENGTHEN RESILIENCE IN CITIES TO REDUCE THE RISK AND THE IMPACT OF DISASTERS.
Further, it will contribute to the discussion in achieving SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS 10, 11 and 17 namely:
• REDUCED INEQUALITIES,
• SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES, and
• PARTNERSHIPS FOR GOALS.
