  • Expo 2020 Dubai

Summary

The event is intended to reinvigorate thinking around the rationale behind mega-events as innovative projects that can enable a city to leverage talents, international efforts and investment for positive long-term urban transformation.

It will provide a platform for global experts and stakeholders to exchange insights and experiences on the opportunities offered by Mega Events. Using the example of Expo 2020 Dubai, we will discuss how mega-events can drive innovation and fuel the economic and social development of future cities. We will also explore approaches and strategies around leveraging the international multi-stakeholder involvement and effective implementation of a long-term planning and evaluation process.

The topic will have strong relevance to the New Urban Agenda and supporting implementation in terms of exchanging experiences from Expo 2020 Dubai as a new benchmark for catalysing economic development strategies in urban development, the transformative power of smart and connected cities; innovation and efficiencies in urban infrastructure, transport and mobility, sustainable energy; and promoting inclusive cities.
