The Urban Housing Practitioners Hub (UHPH) is a coalition of actors from multiple sectors - , national and local governments, the private sector, academia and multilateral agencies and networks - that is establishing a dynamic knowledge management platform designed to improve the quality and scale of housing practices and policy in the Latin American/Caribbean Region.
The impetus for the creation of the Urban Housing Practitioners Hub is to mobilize a variety of actors and institutions that are committed to the implementation of regional and global initiatives, including the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda.
This Networking Event will feature the main workstreams, or 'Modules', of the Urban Housing Practitioners Hub, and will describe them in ways that will inspire those attending the Event to participate in future the Urban Housing Practitioners Hub activities.
While the Urban Housing Pactitioners Hub is currently focused on the Latin America/Caribbean Region, there are organizations from other regions that have expressed interest in replicating the UHPH elsewhere.
As such, and given the global composition of WUF9 attendees, this Networking Event will illustrate how the components of the Urban Housing Practitioners Hub can be adopted in other regions.
Participants in this Networking Event will be offer their own experiences of other coalitions and knowledge management platforms with whom the Urban Housing Practitioners Hub could collaborate and benefit from those experiences.
Many of the organizations currently providing support to the Urban Housing Practitioners Hub, such as UNIAPRAVIi, Cities Alliance, Habitat for Humanity and UN-Habitat, have global footprints and are committed to replicating the the Urban Housing Practitioners approach in other regions so that the benefits can be truly globalized.
